The Seattle Civic Concert Dancers is a not-for-profit dance company based at
Seattle Civic Dance Theatre school
(a separate entity). The dance company provides a performing outlet for talented local dancers.
It culturally enriches the community and the city-at large through professionally oriented performances
and activities.
During the year, our dancers perform at functions for various civic and private groups.
The dance company gives dancers the opportunity to perform on a professional level and
perform with other dance companies. It exposes them to the community, peer stimulation,
auditions, jobs, scholarships and other outlets for talents and skills. Ages of the company
range from 14 on up.
In addition to improving health and developing motor skills, dance provides constructive
interaction, patience with one's self and others, plus the ability to listen and follow
instruction.
Many of our concert dancers have gone on to dance professionally, teach dance and get jobs in
their communities that further others in the arts. All of our concert dancers provide excellent
role models in the dance school and involve themselves in their community by volunteering their
services at various outlets.
